Alcohol Education for Younger Children

Drinks

There is a report from the University of Pittsburgh which suggested that students should be exposed to knowledge of the dangers of alcohol as early as fourth grade. There are several reasons for this. First, kids watch TV and ads marketing alcohol. Those ads are more prominent than ever. Then there is the information from a review of state and national surveys which found that among typical fourth-graders, 10% had already had more than a sip of alcohol and 7% had a drink in the past year. The percent of children who have used alcohol increases with age and doubles between 4th and 6th grades.

Alcohol Can Lead to Stomach Irritation

Alcohol Can Lead to Stomach Irritation

Alcohol can lead to stomach irritation. This isn’t necessarily an allergic reaction, but it’s a direct reaction to a toxin, of sorts. Alcohol, when it gets into the stomach, actually causes an increase in secretion of stomach acid…that increased secretion of stomach acid can cause tenderness and belly pain. The belly pain can be treated essentially by trying to neutralize the acid; you would use Tums, Rolaids or products like that. But over time, it can have a disastrous effect, if you continue drinking.

Reducing Heartburn Pain

Reducing Heartburn Pain

Heartburn is very frustrating because one of the problems is it is hard to distinguish from actual heart pain. The thing about heartburn that you have to realize is there are certain things that make heartburn worse; acid, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco. All of those things will build up stomach acid, and as they do, it can make that heartburn worse. One of the things I believe that’s very important in dealing with heartburn is you also elevate the head of the bed. If you go to bed, make sure you actually have your head a little higher. Gravity will help you deal with it. That certainly will help with the symptoms.

People Can Be Allergic to Alcohol

People Can Be Allergic to Alcohol

There are people who are allergic to alcohol, believe it or not. There are also people who are hypersensitive to the effects of alcohol. Many people who have these problems actually can have the feelings of euphoria or depression that are associated with alcohol, and they have it at lower levels of the alcohol. The other thing is that many people could be allergic to the by-product in the distilling of the alcohol.. It’s something that a lot of people don’t think about, and the only way they know is when they relate it to the times they have been drinking.
